KEEPING KIDS FED

Emanuel Medical Center announced that it donated an estimated 2,818 meals to Second Harvest of the Greater Valley as part of Tenet Health’s Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive this summer.

The donations collected are to provide local children and adults with a healthy breakfast during the summer, which is a particularly tough time for many food-insecure families because children can no longer rely on schools for nutritious meals, which can be an added burden on those families. Emanuel Medical Center collected 1,222 pounds of cereal, of which Second Harvest estimates translates into 1,018 meals. EMC staff also added $180 in monetary donations, which Second Harvest estimates will create 1,800 meals.
