One of many services that HydroGlo offers are IV drips, which are growing in popularity across the globe.

History of business:

Alyssa Vieira, a longtime nurse at Emanuel Medical Center, has always been passionate about helping others. With the help of colleagues and business partners Richard Haak, M.D. and Janet Haak, R.N., she is hoping to build a one-stop shop for health and wellness services.

The name of their business is HydroGlo, and they offer services for just about anything. From laser hair removal, hair growth, Botox, acne and sun damage treatment and even IV therapies and energy shots, Vieira’s goal is simple: “Help as many people feel like their best selves.”

“It’s about internal wellness, and mental health,” Vieira said. “If helping grow hair back on your head is something that’s going to help you with your mental health, then I want to help. Maybe getting an IV drip is going to get you the energy you need to work out because you want to stay healthy. That is what we wanted to aim for.”

A common theme with HydroGlo is that they appeal to what’s trendy. Aside from their space at 1175 Geer Rd., Suite C in Turlock, which features couches, music, television and refreshments, the services and products like the IV therapies, CBD skin creams and hair removal have become popular and mainstream in recent years.

Vieira explained that IV’s have become popular amongst both athletes and members of the general public, as they can serve as instant energizers, unlike energy drinks, shakes or sports drinks.

“When you're taking things by mouth, your body's only absorbing 30 percent of the nutrients,” she explained. “With an IV, you're getting 100 percent of the nutrients immediately into your bloodstream.”

HydroGlo has hosted a number of pop ups at gyms and athletic events to educate folks on the benefits of IV drips. They have also seen a sharp rise in IV use for parties where heavy drinking is involved. In some cases, HydroGlo offers mobile services so that IV drips can be offered during events.

“There’s nothing bad about IVs because their vitamins,” Vieira said. “Maybe there’s a stigma because it is new and your hooking drips directly into your veins, but we’re professionals and it’s not a long or difficult process at all.”

HydroGlo offers IV memberships ranging from $46 to $99 a month.

Similar stigmas surround CBD, which is a chemical found in marijuana. HydroGlo offers medical grade, CBD skin care products from Alma Lasers. These products also include FDA approved levels of THC.

“What products need to be medical grade is that this goes down into the live tissue on the cellular level,” Vieira explained. “So, if you have hyperpigmentation, acne or any issues with your skin, rosacea, eczema, it’s working on the live cellular level. CBD really helps with calming down any redness and red tint to their face or really bad acne. It makes your skin look hydrated... It's freaking amazing stuff.”

Amid the new, trendy health trends, the most popular services have to do with hair, particularly laser hair removal, whether it be the face or on other parts of the body.

“Laser hair removal is huge for us. A lot of people, especially women, just don't want hair in certain areas. Men, too, don’t want the back hair or chest hair. They just want it all gone, so we can zap it forever,” Vieira explained.

HydroGlo recently launched their lifetime removal program. After six sessions, if a customer ever needs any more laser hair removal for that body area, sessions from there on out is $25.

“It’s super cheap compared to paying over $200 for a Brazilian wax, so I’m really trying to spread the word about that, and just about the services we can offer with this technology, in general. And many people don’t know about these new tools and methods.

“I want health and wellness to be super mainstream,” Vieira continued. “I want people to be glowing, just like the name says. We offer pamper parties for women and for men, where we host bachelor or bachelorette parties, wedding parties, Girls' Nights, birthday parties or even date nights, where groups can get facials, massages, IV vitamin infusions or IM injections over drinks… Taking care of your health should be normalized and celebrated and it should be fun, so we want to make this a big thing. It shouldn’t be intimidating or super expensive. So, it’s super exciting to see people be introduced to this fun world of wellness.”
