• Air Force Airman Tommy L. Jones graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Brian Jones of Keyes and a 2006 graduate of Pitman High School.

• Army Staff Sgt. T. A. Prosser is a member of the 2nd Heavy Equipment Transportation (HET) Company who has returned to the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif., after being deployed to Iraq and Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, now changed to Operation New Dawn.

During the 12-month deployment, 2nd HET Company members transported cargo, performed recovery missions, and provided armed security during convoy movements.  The unit performed 256 convoy operations, drove almost 3.3 million miles throughout Iraq, and transported 120,128 tons of cargo without an accident.

Operation New Dawn transitions and signifies a formal end to U.S. military combat operations in Iraq, and shifts the U.S. emphasis from predominantly military to predominately civilian as the U.S. officials assisting Iraqis in accordance with the Strategic Framework Agreement.

The three primary missions of U.S. Forces include advising, assisting, and training the Iraqi Security Forces; conducting partnered counterterrorism operations; and providing support to provincial reconstruction teams and civilian partners as they help build Iraq's civil capacity.

Prosser, a motor transport operator, has served in the military for nine years.

He is the son of Larry L. Prosser of Hilmar. His wife, Jennifer, is the daughter of Lynn and Loni Leatherman of Turlock. Prosser is a 1998 graduate of Hilmar High School.

• Army Pvt. Amy R. Peltier graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

She is the daughter of Dave Peltier of Hughson and a 2007 graduate of Hughson High School.

• Army Pfc. Lanetta M. Faria graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

• Marine Corps Sgt. Christina Mota-Aguiar, daughter of Reyna Mota of Ceres and Joe Mota, of Livingston, recently received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for outstanding achievement while serving with Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Pacific, San Diego.

Mota-Aguiar was singled out for the award because of her superb initiative and contribution in helping the command fulfill its mission.

 Mota-Aguiar is a 2003 graduate of Ceres High School.
