The community gathered Thursday night for the 27th annual Lighting of the Homicide Victims’ Memorial Tree & Candlelight Vigil in downtown Modesto. According to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office, the purpose of the event was to offer support to those who have lost someone due to violence and let them know they are not alone in their grief. 

“It continues to be our honor to host this event, to be here with you all, and to continue to serve you and our community. May you find peace and comfort in knowing your loved ones are not forgotten,” said District Attorney Jeff Laugero.
