Every year at this time, the town of Turlock is little bit brighter as many residents go all out with holiday light displays. Turlock is home to many stand-out homes, but one in particular is a must-see this season.
Carl Grubb, 83, has been producing an impressive display of lights at his home, located at 2030 Golf Rd., for over 15 years, each year adding something new.
“This year I have big stars with blinking lights, along with music to go with it—and it’s just fantastic,” said Grubb.
Shirley Coehlo, a neighbor of Grubb’s, said that his hard work and beautiful display of Christmas lights has everyone excited every year to see what he’ll come up with.
“We see him out there working on Oct. 1 and he adds something new to it every day, it’s just fabulous,” she said.
His featured pieces this year — alongside the blinking stars — are the 1,000 additional lights to his antenna tower overlooking the array of lights, Santas, reindeer and passersby below.
“When I see brake lights I know I’m doing something right,” Grubb said with pride.
The light-scape includes six blinking stars with Christmas music, a 15 -foot blow up Santa that waves as people walk by, an antenna with thousands of lights on it and over 200 different kinds of lights and decorated Christmas trees.
His wife, Shirley Grubb, loves the attraction it brings to the community and people in the neighborhood. She knows firsthand how hard her husband works on it and is happy to see people enjoying it.
“Matter of fact, he was sitting on the porch out front this morning and he said, ‘I wonder what I’ll do for it next year,’” she said.
