Flames race through Turlock home

Six people were displaced from their residence Friday morning when their home went up in flames, the Turlock Fire Department reported.

The fire happened at 6 a.m. Friday at a home in the 400 block of Crane Avenue in Turlock.

The cause of the blaze is under unknown at this time and is under investigation by the Stanislaus County Fire Investigation Unit.

The first arriving fire crews at the home found the fire quickly racing through the house and the attic with heavy smoke all around. The fire response was upgraded and additional resources were sent to the scene.

The fire department brought the fire under control within 30 minutes of the arrival but by then the flames had done their damage. Six people, including two young children were displaced by the fire. The fire department reported that two cats died in the fire.

The Red Cross is providing the family with temporary assistance.
