Emanuel Medical Center is looking for a few community members to volunteer their time and service to the local hospital. Volunteering at Emanuel Medical Center can be a great way to have a profound impact on people in the community.

The volunteers at Emanuel Medical Center are dedicated to helping the hospital maintain its goal of excellence in healthcare. The hospital staff is dedicated to a philosophy of care, compassion and commitment, and volunteers help drive that philosophy home. Volunteers are a vital part of the hospital, providing a great resource for patients, families, visitors and employees.

“Volunteering with us is a great way to give back to our community, learn about healthcare and be part of something special,” said Murali Naidu, M.D., CEO of Emanuel Medical Center. “Our volunteers provide thousands of hours of compassionate service every year to help enrich the experience of our patients, their families and our hospital staff. We are so grateful for their commitment and dedication to our hospital and our community.”

Volunteering has its rewards:

· The chance to make new friends

· Feel needed and fulfilled

· Develop new interests

· Share your talents

· Annual flu shot

· Community service

· Participate in hospital activities

· Make a different in the lives of others

Volunteers are generally placed according to need and may be moved to fill important openings. However, the hospital tries to align positions with each volunteer’s special skills and talents, when possible. They serve in many areas of the hospital including: gift shop, surgery waiting room desk, emergency department, cancer center and front desk. Volunteers might be asked to greet patients and families, organize charts or help with many other functions around Emanuel.

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Tuberculosis testing will be provided by the hospital. Volunteers typically commit to one, 3-4 hour shift per week. Emanuel Medical Center is always looking to add new members to the volunteer family.
