Love is in the air — and the trees — in downtown Turlock this week as local businesses and the downtown association have created romantic backdrops in hopes that couples and others fond of cupid’s holiday drop by for a selfie.
Downtown Turlock is hosting a “Love Your Selfie” photo contest Friday through Sunday. Turlock’s community Christmas tree in Central Park has been transformed into a tree of love and a list of downtown businesses will have Valentine’s Day themed selfie stations set up in their stores for couples and individuals to use as backdrops.
After grabbing a selfie or two, post it on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #LOVEYOURSELFIETURLOCK.
“We’re just trying to offer people a place to do selfies and promote downtown, how beautiful and vibrant it is,” said Turlock Downtown Property Owners Association director Travis Regalo.
Regalo hopes that once downtown, visitors will take advantage of the unique shops and eateries to make their Valentine’s Day special.
