A 25-year-old man that died in a single vehicle collision in Madera County was initially identified as a Turlock resident, but actually lived in Sacramento, according to the Madera County Coroner’s Office.

The deceased was identified as Anthony Rocha of Sacramento. Rocha does have family members that reside in Turlock.

Rocha was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro northbound on Highway 99 around 4:50 a.m. Tuesday when the collision occurred.

He was just north of Avenue 18 ½ when for an unknown reason he allowed the Camaro to drift off the east shoulder and off the highway, according to the California Highway Patrol. The vehicle continued down an embankment, overturning several times.

Rocha was wearing a seat belt, but sustained fatal injuries nonetheless and died at the scene.

The collision remains under investigation.
