The K-9s of the Turlock Police Department have landed on the nice list this holiday season as they are due to receive gifts courtesy of Pet Supplies Plus and their customers. This week, the retailer’s Turlock location began a campaign encouraging community members to buy gifts for the local law enforcing dogs.
Through Dec. 22, a table will be set up at the front of the store with items requested by the Turlock Police Department’s K-9 Unit. Customers can come in to purchase any of the requested items, which will then be placed in a donation bin that will later be delivered to the unit.
Items requested include dog training treats, vitamins and supplements and toys.
“We at Pet Supplies Plus want our customers to know we support our community,” said Pets Supplies Plus interim store leader Eduardo Medina. “As interim store leader, it’s my goal to be more involved in the community of Turlock. Our message is to show our customers and neighbors that we are more than just a retail store. We are a store that wants to be a part and support our community.”
The Turlock Police Department restored its K-9 Unit in 2016. There are currently three K-9 and handler teams. They are Officer Marco Diaz with K-9 Ace, Officer Donna Anthieny with K-9 Herc and Officer Brett Conrad with K-9 Björn.
“By working with the Turlock Police Department, we are showing we support the department and its K-9 heroes,” Medina continued.
Pet Supplies Plus in Turlock is located at 2840 Countryside Dr. and is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 pm. on Sunday.
