Broadside collision leaves one dead
emergency

A two-vehicle collision at a rural intersection in Turlock on Friday morning claimed the life of one person, the California Highway Patrol reported.

No details about the deceased have been released at this time.

The collision happened at 10:45 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Harding and Golf roads.

A 2001 Honda was traveling eastbound on Harding Road, stopped at the stop sign at Golf Road.

Caden Peterson, 19, of Turlock was driving a 2013 Chevrolet southbound on Golf Road, approaching Harding Road and the Honda.

The driver of the Honda accelerated their vehicle into the intersection directly in front of the Chevrolet, causing a broadside collision, the CHP reported.

The impact caused both vehicles to proceed in a southerly direction before coming to rest south of the intersection.

The driver of a 2001 Honda sedan succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Peterson was not injured.

It is unknown at this time if drugs and/or alcohol contributed to this collision.

The driver of the Honda was not wearing their seatbelt at the time of the collision. The CHP would like to remind all motorists, seatbelts, when worn properly, have the ability to save your life when involved in a traffic collision.
