The annual Assyrian Festival will once again celebrate its rich traditions at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds. The 2024 Assyrian Festival, set for Sept. 14 and 15, will strive to make a lasting impression by immersing the community in the “culture that started it all.”

“The Assyrian Festival’s goal is to educate our community members with our culture and our traditions,” said Ralph Koshaba, Assyrian Festival chairman. “The festival is open to the entire community so they may experience our culture, our foods, and our history.”

Opening ceremony will be at 12 noon on Sept. 14 with recognition from local dignitaries including Congressman John Duarte, Stanislaus County Supervisor Vito Chiesa and Turlock Mayor Amy Bublak.

Hosted by the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East, the festival will guarantee an authentic cultural experience for each guest with homemade food from the local Assyrian community, which will be made using family recipes that have been passed down for generations.

“The Assyrian Church of the East, Diocese of California, Central Valley parishes, would like to express their gratitude to all those who have supported and attended the Assyrian Festival through the years,” said Carmen Morad, opening ceremony chairperson.

Khoshaba said that the festival is also looking for sponsors who can help tell the Assyrian story through the festival and keep the festival momentum going for the next few years. Contact Ralph Khoshaba to be a sponsor at 209-652-3484 or email at kingtows@msn.com.

The 2024 Assyrian Festival will feature games and educational projects for kids as well as live Assyrian cultural music, exhibits, traditional Assyrian food, and the Assyrian dance groups.
