The Turlock Library will offer a variety of arts and crafts, literacy and family fun events throughout the month of November.
November events at the Turlock Library will begin with the Read to a Dog program at 12 p.m. today.
Independent readers up to age 12 are invited to practice their reading skills with the special Read to a Dog program at the Turlock Library. This program is designed to help children gain confidence in their reading skills by reading aloud to certified therapy dogs. Space is limited and online registration is required.
An all-ages coloring activity will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Participants can add their own artistic flair to a coloring banner, or strike it solo with coloring pages. Children under 4 must have direct supervision from parents or adult guardians.
The Friends of the Turlock Library group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 6. All are invited.
The T(w)een Tuesday event for 4 p.m. Nov. 12 will be making stop-motion LEGO creations in the Maker Space. Participants can build LEGO creations using the library’s LEGO blocks and bring them to life with stop-motion film. This program is designed for ages 9 and older, however, all ages are invited to the library at 4 p.m. for a LEGO play day. Children under 4 are welcome, but must have direct parental supervision.
The Turlock Teen Anime Club will meet at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 13. This month the club will be watching “The Ancient Magus' Bride” (TV-14). This activity is for ages 12-19.
The UCCE Master Gardeners of Stanislaus County will be at the library at 6 p.m. Nov. 13 to talk about backyard fruit trees. Attendees to this lecture can learn how to grow and keep deciduous trees (apples, apricots, plums, pears, peaches, and cherries) short (4-5' tall) so they can easily prune, pick fruit, and care for your trees while enjoying a plentiful amount of fruit.
The Turlock Library will host an open sew activity at 1 p.m. Nov. 15. The library has a limited number of projects available. The library also has a limited number of machines available on a first-come, first-served basis. Must be able to use a sewing machine independently.
The Mystery Lovers Book Club will meet at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 18. This month, the club will discuss “The Lost Girls” by Heather Young. A novel that examines the price of loyalty, the burden of regret, the meaning of salvation, and the sacrifices we make for those we love, told in the voices of two women linked by a decades-old family mystery at a picturesque lake house.
Kids and teens can work in teams to uncover and assemble a mini dinosaur skeleton at 4 p.m. Nov. 19. All ages welcome; children 4 and under must have direct adult supervision.
The Turlock Chess Club will meet at 5 p.m. Nov. 20. Whether you are an amateur, a master, or somewhere between, you are invited to bring your board to meet and play against others for practice or friendly competition.
The T(w)een Tuesday event for 4 p.m. Nov. 26 will be Craft-a-Palooza. The library will provide the crafting supplies. All participants need to bring is the creativity. This program is designed for ages 9 and up.
Children under 9 can come to the library at 4 p.m. Nov. 26 and create a unique work of art using watercolors and masking tape. Children 4 and younger must have direct supervision from parents or adult guardians.
It will be Turlock Pokémon Day at the library from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 27. Participants can meet others who share their passion for Pokémon, while hanging out to trade or battle on your Nintendo Switch. Participants are invited to bring their trading cards for a friendly game, hunt for shinies in Pokémon GO, and more. All ages welcome; children 4 and under must have direct adult supervision.
