Festival of Lights: The 26th annual Festival of Lights event will return to downtown Turlock on Friday. The evening’s events begin at 5 p.m. with a vendor fair that includes downtown shops and eateries staying open late. There will be live entertainment on a stage in the Central Station parking lot at 10 E. Main St. The lighting of the official city Christmas tree in Central Park will be at 6:30 p.m. At 8 p.m. visitors will be treated to a holiday drone show.

Gremlins: Whether or not you believe a horror movie about an adorable furry pet that accidentally spawns evil creatures can be listed as a Christmas movie, if you grew up knowing not to feed the mogwai after midnight — then The State Theatre’s showing of “Gremlins” is for you! Showtimes are 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday. The theatre is located at 1307 J St., in downtown Modesto. For more information, visit thestate.org.

Cowboy Christmas

Cowboy Christmas: The Cowboy Craft Show will return to the Gene Bianchi Center in Oakdale Friday and Saturday. Friday hours are 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Cowboy Santa coming in for visits and photos from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The community center is located at 110 S. 2nd St., Oakdale.

Moshgiving: TRG Productions and Persuasion Brewing Co. will present Modesto Moshgiving at 7 p.m. Saturday. This musical event will feature Beheading of the Queen, From the Depths Arise, Glitchkill and Catapult Collision. There is a $10 entry fee for this 21 and over event. Persuasion Brewing is located at 500 7th St. in Modesto.

A Furry Festive Pawliday: Dying Breed Brewing in Oakdale will host A Furry Festival Pawliday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The event will feature live music with Kyle Kirch, a vendor market, food trucks, a holiday sweater/costumer contest for pets and adoptable friends from Better World Rescue and California Bully Rescue. Dying Breed is located at 963 Shepard Court, Oakdale.
