The Stanislaus County Veterans Advisory Commission will once again seek nominations from the community for the Veteran of the Year award.

In 2022, the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors authorized the Stanislaus County Veterans Advisory Commission to annually select one veteran from each supervisorial district as Veteran of the Year. The commission is currently accepting nominations for this prestigious award.

Anyone interested in nominating a candidate must fill out a nomination form. Each nominated candidate must fill out a qualification form to be considered. For more information contact Ryan Kegley at kegleyry@stancounty.com or by phone (209) 558-7380.

The Veterans Advisory Commission serves as the eyes and ears for veterans in Stanislaus County. The VAC provides a forum for veterans to express their needs and advocate for services in their community, while monitoring regulations affecting the needs of veterans at federal, state, and local levels.

The nominee must have received honorable discharge from military service to be considered for nomination of this award and must include a copy of their DD214, if selected.

The Veterans Advisory Commission will be accepting nominations for Veteran of the Year through Aug. 2, 2024.

Nomination forms and a drop box are also located in the Stanislaus Veterans Center, 3500 Coffee Rd., Suite 15, Modesto.
