City of Turlock waste disposal and recycling service information

Turlock Scavenger provides residential solid waste, co-mingled recycling and organic recycling disposal service to City of Turlock customers on a weekly pick-up basis. In order to provide quality service and avoid interruption or penalties, it is important customers properly follow service guidelines and protocol. The following information provides guidance on proper disposal procedures.

ON COLLECTION DAY:

· SET CARTS OUT BY 5 AM

· PLACE CARTS IN THE STREET:

— About 18 inches from the curb ~

— At least two feet apart

— Six feet from any parked vehicle

· DON’T OVERFILL YOUR CARTS

– Make sure the lids are closed

· DON’T LET YOUR CARTS SIT OUT IN PUBLIC VIEW FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS

PENALTIES FOR CART CONTAMINATION:

It is unlawful to contaminate the residential blue recycling cart and/or the green organics cart with any other waste material than for which it is intended. If more than three instances of contamination occur during a 12-month period in either or both of the blue or green carts, service will be automatically upgraded to the largest level of refuse service and charges will be adjusted accordingly.

If contamination should continue, a contamination fee will be enforced for each occurrence of contamination as provided by the Turlock Municipal Code.

The Winter Watering Schedule is now in effect: The winter watering schedule limits outdoor watering to only one day per week, with even numbered addresses watering on Saturday only and odd numbered addresses watering on Sunday only. Watering will still be prohibited between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
