Valley Focus: Growing Talent on exhibit now at the Carnegie
Valley Focus 1
Face Series: The Shot, by Bronte Klass, photo transfer silkscreen print

In its annual Valley Focus exhibition, the Carnegie Arts Center has, for more than 10 years, displayed the work of regional artists and explored their relationship to their communities. This year 12 emerging artists are featured in a group exhibition in the Ferrari Gallery in a show themed on Growing Talent, on view now through May 17.

Through an open call for entries these artists, ages 35 and younger with demonstrated ties to the Central Valley, were selected for the quality and diversity in their work. The artists include painters, printmakers, sculptors, ceramicists, and photographers.

“Their unique perspectives and styles made them stand out to our selection committee. We are excited for this opportunity for our audience and for these artists — they represent the next generation of creative talent that we will be seeing in our region in the coming years,” said CAC Director Lisa McDermott.

A free public reception will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 21. Gallery talks with the artists will take place at 6 p.m. March 13, April 10 and May 8.

Artists included in the exhibition include: Timothy Brown, Jr. (Turlock), Zehl Day (Turlock), Bronte Klass (Murphys), Dorothy LoBue (Turlock), Emma Lowe (Oakdale), Destiny Nieves (Modesto), Monica Ocegueda (Turlock), Melissa Parga (Turlock), Kyle Silligman (Vernalis), Zachary Silva (Merced), Tamsen Taves (Reedley) and Aaron Vizzini (Sacramento).
