Stanislaus State’s $52 million project to construct a new student union building – approved by students in 2015 and funded by an increase to the student fee – kicked off Thursday afternoon with a formal groundbreaking ceremony, where President Ellen Junn and other university stakeholders took the first steps toward the building’s completion. The new University Student Center is expected to celebrate its grand opening in the Spring 2020 semester, and will include over 150,000 square feet of space complete with vendors chosen by students, an improved Warrior Grill, conference rooms, lounge and study space, a new bookstore, a student craft room and offices for student leadership, development and diversity.
