Students spend day as pioneers

Wakefield fifth graders got hands-on with history on Friday for the school’s annual Pioneer Day.   The students learn about U.S. History and the great migration of the Oregon Trail as part of their curriculum.  The fifth grade students dressed in pioneer outfits throughout the event and panned for gold, washed clothes on a washing board, and cooked food as they did in the pioneer days.

The members of Theta Chi will once again spend 18 consecutive hours rowing around the reflection pond at the front of Stanislaus State to raise funds for Breathe California (Photo contributed).
The annual Theta Chi row-a-thon will be held on April 15 and 16, beginning each day at 6 a.m. and concluding at midnight at Stanislaus State.
