Stan State’s Britt Rios-Ellis to deliver inaugural Fall Welcome Address

Stanislaus State’s newest president is set to make her first-ever address to the campus community on Monday morning.

At 9 a.m. inside Snider Recital Hall on the Turlock campus., President Britt Rios-Ellis will deliver the annual Fall Welcome Address. She will use the anticipated hour  to discuss upcoming plans and initiatives for the fall semester and 2024-2025 academic year.

A recording will be made available immediately following the address.

A welcome reception for Rios-Ellis and her husband, Dr. Enrique Rios-Ellis, will also follow. It will take place in the Snider Courtyard and will feature light refreshments.

Complimentary parking will be available in Lots 2 and 3 off of Crowell Road.

Rios-Ellis assumed the role as the 13th president in the school’s 67-year history on June 1 after being officially appointed at a CSU Board of Trustees meeting in March. She succeeds Interim President Susan E. Borrego. 

Prior to Borrego taking over in the interim role in the summer of 2023, Stan State was previously led by Ellen Junn (2016-2023), Joseph F. Sheley (2012-2016), Hamid Shirvani (2005-2012), Marvalene Hughes (1994-2005), Lee Kerschner (1992-1994), John Moore (1985-1992), Walter Olson (1975-1985), Carl Gatlin (1969-1975), Alexander Capurso (1963-1969), Gerard Crowley (1962-1963) and founding president J. Burton Vasche (1960-1962).
