Educational Employees Credit Union announced Thursday it will match scholarship contributions to Merced College’s College for Kids program dollar-for-dollar up to $7,500.

College for Kids, offered since 1976 through Merced College Community Services, is a summer program reaching more than 1,000 youth each summer. The program provides summer enrichment, education, and adventure, the College said, by giving participants exposure to a college campus. The program also increases knowledge of career opportunities and requirements and inspires students to enroll in college and obtain a degree, the College said.

A fundraising campaign totaling $15,000 would provide scholarships for 250 students.
