The Turlock Police Department is investigating a shooting in which one man was wounded in a hotel parking lot.
The shooting was reported at 6:44 p.m. April 15 in the 3300 block of Countryside Drive.
The male victim was sitting in a vehicle with a female passenger when they were approached by a Hispanic male adult, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Parmley.
The man came up to the driver’s side and got into a heated verbal exchange with the victim.
The victim started to drive away, when the man pulled out a gun and shot him in the back, Parmley said.
The victim sought help by running into the lobby of the nearby hotel. The police were called to the scene.
The suspect was last seen running from the area.
The victim’s injury was considered non-life-threatening.
“Motive for this crime is still being investigated, however, this is not believed to be a random act of violence,” Parmley said.
