The investigation into a shooting near an elementary school that left a man wounded Tuesday afternoon has produced few leads as the victim in the case has been uncooperative with investigators.
The shooting was reported at 4:13 p.m. Tuesday by several people calling 911 and reporting shots had been fired in the area of Spruce Street and South Avenue. The incident was near Wakefield Elementary School, which prompted a brief lockdown of the campus as a precaution.
The victim was with two other individuals who were arguing with at least one person in a vehicle. Someone inside the vehicle pulled out a gun, striking the one man and sending the other two running.
The victim ran to a nearby home, where he was found by emergency personnel. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries, according to the police department.
The suspect fled the scene in a late 90s or early 2000s Honda, according to the police department. A suspect description is not available, because the victim has not been cooperating with investigators.
