The Modesto Police Department said Sen would gain entry to the stores by smashing windows or using power tools to cut through the doors, resulting in expensive repairs for the businesses.

Once inside the store Sen and his accomplices would usually steal cigarettes, according to the police department.

Investigators are working on identifying the other individuals who participated in the burglaries.

Sen was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on six felony charges of second-degree burglary during a state of emergency (looting), six counts of burglary in the second degree, four counts of conspiracy, two counts of attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains in custody in lieu of a $96,000 bail.

At the time of Sen's arrest, he was out on bail awaiting trial on charges of auto theft and other felony and misdemeanor offenses, according to Stanislaus County Superior Court records.
