Police seek witnesses in fatal Turlock shooting

The Turlock Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting of a man near a community park.

The victim was identified as Izrael Villegas, 18, of Turlock.

Around 1 a.m. Wednesday the police department’s dispatch received a call reporting a man had been shot in the 4300 block of Cherry Blossom Lane. The area is near Dale Pinkney Park.

“Officers arrived on scene and immediately began investigating the incident,” said police department spokesman Sgt. Mike Parmley. “The suspect(s) had left the scene prior to our arrival.”

The victim sustained at least one fatal gunshot wound, Parmley said.

“Detectives are actively investigating this case and are working on leads discovered in their preliminary investigation,” Parmley said.

A bouquet of flowers left at the park asks neighbors to check their cameras for any possible leads, including a red car.
