A shooting on Thursday left a Delhi woman dead and a man arrested for murder.
Merced County Sheriff’s deputies were called at 11:38 a.m. Thursday about shots being fired at home in the 16500 block of Bloss Avenue in Delhi.
When deputies arrived they found Martha Mendoza of Delhi had suffered gunshot wounds and died at the scene. After investigation, the sheriff’s office identified Ricardo Garcia Jr., 26, of Delhi as a suspect.
Detectives were able to locate Garcia soon after at a residence in Delhi and arrested him for murder.
Events that led to the shooting or motivation have not been released.
