An argument between two brothers turned deadly Thursday night when one brother fatally stabbed the other, the Turlock Police Department reported.

The deceased was identified as Isaac Urias, 25, of Ceres. His younger brother, Marcos Urias, 20, of Ceres has been taken into custody, according to the police department.

At 3:44 p.m. on Thursday, the police department dispatched officers to the 800 block of W. Hawkeye Avenue for a report of an altercation that had escalated into an assault.

The first officers to arrive at the scene located Isaac Urias suffering from at least one stab wound.

“Despite immediate lifesaving efforts by police and fire, Isaac was pronounced dead at the scene,” said Turlock Police Department spokeswoman Dominique Sanchez.

Several people were present at the scene, including Marcos Urias, who was detained by the officers, Sanchez said.

Detectives were called to the scene and began interviewing everyone and were able to confirm that the stabbing stemmed from an altercation between the two brothers.

Marcos Urias was taken into custody and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of murder.

“This is a tragic incident where an altercation between brothers turned deadly. Our hearts go out to those affected, and we are conducting a thorough investigation to determine what exactly happened,” said Turlock Police Chief Jason Hedden.
