A 44-year-old man sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound Sunday morning while standing in a Turlock alleyway.

The shooting was reported around 8:30 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Angelus Street. The area has homes with alley way entrances, which is where the victim was when he was shot

The victim told Turlock Police investigators a four-door dark colored sedan drove up near him and an unknown man fired two shots at him.

One bullet struck the victim in the lower back, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

The suspect vehicle was last seen headed eastbound through the alley toward Spruce Street.
