The Turlock Police Department has arrested one man in connection to a downtown jewelry store burglary, but the actual thief remains at large.
The man arrested Tuesday afternoon, Steven Guerrero, 41, is suspected of being the get away driver.
Shortly before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, a man entered the Vail Creek Jewelers store at 111 E. Main St., and selected a gold chain worth $900.
The suspect ran out of the store with the chain and got into a waiting white Hyundai parked in the Wellington Station parking lot.
The same vehicle was stopped a short time later on Bradbury Road, east of Highway 99.
Guerrero was not the suspect who took the chain, but was booked for burglary for his role in the theft, according to the police department.
The police department reported having a person of interest identified in the case and are investigating some further leads.
