A pedestrian suffered minor injuries after being hit by a car in a shopping center parking lot, the Turlock Police Department reported.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, but was later apprehended.

The collision occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot at 2090 E. Canal Dr.

According to the police department, Brian Bennallack, 31, was driving through the parking lot when he allegedly struck the pedestrian.

Bennallack fled the scene, but was located by police officers a few blocks away.

The suspect was positively identified by witnesses and was arrested for driving while intoxicated and felony hit and run.
