A man spotted riding a motorcycle on people’s lawns was arrested Tuesday after it was discovered the motorcycle was stolen, the Turlock Police Department reported.
Around 4 a.m. Tuesday a Turlock Police officer spotted a man, later identified as Robert Rodriguez, 48, driving a motorcycle without a helmet one. When the officer pulled in behind the motorcycle in the 300 block of N. Broadway, the driver sped up and tried to avoid the traffic stop by driving across people’s lawns, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.
The effort to avoid arrest came to no avail when the officer was able to stop Rodriguez and made the discovery the motorcycle was stolen, but not reported at that time by the owner.
Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and for a parole violation.
