Convicted child predator gets 22 years in prison

Joshua Agariel Escobar, 26, of Turlock was sentenced on June 14, to 22 years in state prison after being convicted of two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14.

Escobar also admitted the factors that the victims were particularly vulnerable and the defendant took advantage of a position of trust.

On April 16, the defendant entered his no contest plea to the crimes. Deputy District Attorney Sara D. Sousa prosecuted the case for the People.

The charges stem from the abuse of two confidential minor victims, both under the age of 14. Escobar continuously sexually abused confidential victim #1 between 2016 and 2022 and continuously sexually abused confidential victim #2 between 2014 and 2020.

Escobar willingly participated in the criminal investigation and admitted to his crimes. Upon entry of the no contest plea the Honorable Judge Shawn Bessey sentenced Escobar to 22 years in state prison. These convictions will require Escobar to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
