Charges filed for attack on veteran

A Turlock man will be facing criminal chares after punching an elderly veteran, the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Anthony Castillo, 36, of Turlock, has been charged with felony assault causing great bodily injury and elder abuse.

On June 1, Castillo is alleged to have walked up to an elderly man near a market in Turlock before asking him if he served in the military. After the elderly man acknowledged he was a veteran, it is alleged that Castillo punched the man and knocked him unconscious. Castillo is also accused of inflicting serious injuries.
