A plan to steal an ATM from a Turlock bank succeeded in pulling the machine out, but failed when it came to getting any actual money out, the Turlock Police Department reported.
The police department received a call reporting two suspects were trying to steal an ATM outside the Farmers and Merchant Bank at 3700 Geer Rd. The call came in at 3:25 a.m. Wednesday.
The two suspects had managed to secure a chain around the base of the ATM and used a white utility van to pull it out. The plan landed the ATM in the parking lot, but was completely intact otherwise and the suspects had to flee without getting any cash, according to the police department.
The white van was left at the scene and was found to have been reported stolen. The suspects were seen leaving in an older model white pickup truck.
