It was a record-breaking year for Cal State Stanislaus junior forward Victor Regalado, and his accomplishments were noted after he earned his league’s top offensive honor.
Regalado, who finished with a league-leading 13 goals this season, was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Most Valuable Offensive Player, joining two other teammates who helped the Warriors to their best regular season since joining the CCAA.
Warriors freshman midfielder Edgar Santana was selected as a second-team all-conference member, and sophomore goalkeeper Javier Rosales received an honorable mention.
With those three returning next season, the Warriors are set to have another good run.
Stanislaus had a record-breaking time in 2009 under first-year coach Dana Taylor, who arrived on campus and at the new Warrior Stadium having noteworthy success at Oregon State. The Warriors went 11-6-2 overall, and 8-6-2 in the CCAA.
And the season produced a conference most valuable player in Regalado, whose 13 goals and 28 points are the most for any Warrior in the CCAA era.
Seven Cal State San Bernardino players were honored as all-conference.
Garcia lands spot in all-CCAA team
Lisa Garcia, Stanislaus women’s soccer junior forward who led the CCAA in goals with 11, was named to the second-team all-conference squad for her efforts. She also set a single-season school record in goals and tied for points in a season with 27.
Cal State L.A. highlighted the honors by placing six players in all-conference squads.
Warriors in cross country regional competition
After a successful run in the CCAA Championships, the Stanislaus runners will try to make their mark today in the NCAA West Regionals at San Francisco State.
Leading for the Warriors are Joey Nunes for the men, and twin sisters Denali Foldager and Rubye Foldager for the women. All three earned all-conference honors at the CCAA meet after finishing in the top 15 of their respective races.
The Warriors also enter today’s race ranked in the West Regional, as the men are No. 9 and the women sit at 10th.
